Who is Vision?

Vision: the ability to see clearly that which is inspired from God above.

"Do you know what Vision Step is? Check what the def. is 'cause step is what we're doing for God, and the rest is that we define what the best is. Now that's the definition of Vision Steppers. We're stepping for the Lord and we're repping our borough. So you know where we're coming from we'll keep it thorough. Stop! Only Jesus can STOP all your problems. And the reason why we're stepping is so you can get the message. Asking us questions 'bout prayers and confessions. Sayin ya'll be falling asleep during processions Huh? Ya'll be falling asleep? That's not the basis. We're suppose to be stepping for God, not entertainment. So here goes the rap 'cause our game is shameless. We can spread the word of God and keep it nameless. Well mama, I don't just step for you, I step for the man upstairs and this is how we do.

The Vision Steppers were birthed in 2001 at Immaculate Conception school in the South Bronx NY, an area well known for being impoverished and lacking opportunities.  The group was started as a way to provide quality, enriching activities for young women who were surrounded by a lack of role models and positive supportive mentors as they sought options for college and secondary education.

The Step team started with 10 girls in grades 6-7.  As of 2009, the team has more than 50 members with ages ranging from 6th grade to 2nd years in college.

We are proud of the Awards our team has won.  They include:

·         2009, ESPN documentary about stepping (what’s the name?)

·         May 2009, “Northeast Grand Champions in Step" at the Cheer Dance Step America competition in Hershey Park PA

·         2009, 1st Place in the "Best of the Best 2009" step competition, Mercy college.

·         2009, McDonald’s Gospelfest finalists

Vision is the ability to see clearly that which is inspired from God above. This step team is more than just a team, we are a family. We vary in culture, size, and age, but the one thing we have in common is that we step for God. Our goal is to inspire others, especially today's generation, to be courageous and support and stand for all that they believe in. As a member of this team, we learn patience, courage, honesty, trust, love, responsibility, and we have also found a place that we can call "home away from home." We work together and the outcome is so beautiful. we love the fact that our team dares to be different by stepping for the Lord and not just to win competitions or entertain others. This is our second family and we would not choose any other group of people to share the joy we receive from stepping.
